Crypto-Jewish Memory and Identity in the Borderlands

I’m Nancy Katz, a Ph.D. candidate in History at the University of Houston.
My research explores how Crypto-Jewish identity has been passed down—through memory, secrecy, ritual, and storytelling—especially in Texas, New Mexico, and California.

This site is a space for sharing family stories, recovering hidden traditions, and preserving a heritage that has too often remained in the shadows.

🕯️ Whether you have a detailed oral history, a brief memory, or simply a question—your voice matters.
